Doctor Richard Clayton is a Research Professor at the University of Cambridge. In the early 1990s his software house developed "Turnpike", one of the first email clients to run on Windows. He then worked at Demon Internet, then the largest UK ISP, creating innovative systems to detect email abuse. In 2000 he returned to Cambridge to study for a PhD on "Anonymity and Traceability in Cyberspace" and he has remained there ever since as a security researcher ("because it is more fun than working"). Particular research interests have been "phishing" and DDoS, but for the past few years he has also been working with the Yahoo anti-spam team "blocking spam" and understanding the challenges of doing that at planetary scale.
